My name is Helen McKenna. For several years I have worked as a personal biographer assisting people to write their own life story. I have also presented workshops that give people a jump start on their writing journey.
In my experience the biggest challenge that potential autobiographers face is getting started. So many people simply believe that they just can't do it and don't have the confidence to even try. Once they have the tools they need and make a start, they come to realise that anybody really can do it.
The other greatest challenge is maintaining momentum. That is why I believe that making a plan and sticking with it are so important.Several of my clients have gone on to self-publish their books as well as sell to the general public.
I have a BA degree from the University of Queensland as well as a Diploma in Freelance Journalism. I am also the author of three novels - The Beach House, Room 46 and The Third Time.
